Who are we?

The Down ‘Ole Golf Society
The DOGS originated in Aberdeen Scotland as a social golf networking society for upstream Oil and Gas people.
The DOGS has mainly Oil and Gas people at its core which means many members either work for an Oil Company or an Oilfield Service Company. If you would like to join the DOGS and believe you are eligible then please get in touch.

What do we do?

The DOGS meet monthly throughout the main Scottish golf season. We visit a wide variety of golf clubs and generally play one round per visit. (used to be 2 but well … )

A golfer’s breakfast is taken before play and a meal after the round is followed by the results and prize-giving.
Dogs are welcome to bring guests who may become Puppies and eventually grow into Dogs.

A few facts about our society

We were formed ages ago. None of us can really remember when.

Most Dogs have a background in the oil industry but there are other professions represented. We have engineers, medical men, educators, transport executives ….

The DOGS have a few customs including the DOGGIE based language, the Doggie Drop, and the Dogs handicap system.

Much of this is a mystery to members.
